Food Durham is running two events in early October. Both events are FREE and you can book on the Eventbrite links.

Food Durham, County Durham’s Food Partnership School and Community Food and Growing Event 3 October 2023, 3.30pm – 6.00pm, Gilesgate Primary School, Durham
This is an opportunity to showcase the wonderful work schools and communities are doing to improve our food system for people, the planet and the local economy. It will highlight the role of food and growing in the school curriculum, demonstrate how local community action has responded to recent challenges and promote the benefits of school and community partnerships. The event is aimed at school leaders and teachers and community group members and volunteers. Book on the Eventbrite link below.
Includes presentations from Shildon Alive and Montalbo Primary School, a tour of Gilesgate Primary School's allotment, presentations from other organisations that can support food and growing activities and refreshments by REfUSE.

Food Durham, County Durham’s Food Partnership Food and Food Waste Networking Event 10 October 2023, 10.00am – 2.30pm, TCR Hub, Barnard Castle
This is the first of a series of Food Durham networking events. The focus for this event will be on food waste across the food system, from supermarket food surpluses, food gluts from gardens and allotments to dealing with food and garden waste. Just as importantly, the event will provide the opportunity for people working across the food system to meet, connect and learn from each other.
Workshops on composting, dealing with surpluses and gluts, using surplus food and garden planning for less waste and more food use.
