Country Durham wins national award for food system work!

Food Durham is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a Sustainable Food Places SILVER AWARD – an accolade which recognises the efforts and ambitions of everyone across County Durham who is working together to promote healthy, sustainable and local food.

To celebrate all the successes – we’re holding a free event 9.30-12 on Friday 28th November.

Everyone is invited to join us at Bishop Auckland Town Hall for Good Food Local County Durham to hear from individuals and organisations who are at the forefront of work to improve food, from sustainable farming, food support organisations, food waste champions, local food businesses, diet-related health, school food, community gardens and allotments, to name a few.

We have much more to do so let’s join the dots, find the gaps and plan action together to make food in County Durham better for everyone. Whether you're an individual or organisation, we'd love you to be part of it.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank our hosts, OASES, as well as The National Lottery Community Fund for funding Food Durham, and lastly, a big thank you to everyone who has been involved in the Food Partnership and movement for better food over the last 12 years, without whom none of this would have been possible.

Warm wishes and I look forward to seeing many of you next week.
